Organic Kotobuki Matcha from Japan from Amanprana
Amanprana matcha tea is extracted from the whole, youngest and finest leaves of the Camelia Sinensis from Japan. Matcha is dark green tea and tastes sweet with a soft aftertaste. Amanprana's Matcha is certified organic and comes from the Shimoyama region in Japan. Kotobuki Matcha tea is harvested at an altitude of 600 meters, in the middle of the mountains, far away from industry and villages.
What is matcha
Matcha is made from ground green tea leaves. Four weeks before the matcha leaves are harvested, the tea plants are covered with mats or tarps. As a result, they are in the shade, so that the plants start to produce a lot of leaf green (chlorophyll). This process enhances the flavor and deep green color of the leaves. After harvesting, the process of steaming, drying and grinding the tea leaves follows. The stems and veins of the leaf are discarded.
Ingredients for making matcha
- Chasaku or bamboo matcha spoon : dose the right amount of matcha powder for 1 cup of tea with this handmade spoon. 1 scoop is about 1 gram. Spoon the powder into a matcha tea filter or sieve.
- Matcha tea sifter: sieve the powder ultra fine with this tea filter. This makes it easier to beat the matcha afterwards to a foamy mass, without pieces of matcha powder tea.
- Chawan or matcha bowl to prepare matcha ( black , beige or dark green ). A matcha bowl has a very special shape. It is wide enough to easily whip up the powder and has a sturdy base, which makes it pleasant to hold while drinking.
- Chasen or matcha whisk : whisk the matcha powder vigorously with this handmade bamboo whisk until frothy without lumps. You cannot dissolve the green tea powder in warm water or a warm cereal drink without lumps. You will not get this mixed with a spoon and not any other whisk is suitable for this.
- Chasen holder : let your matcha beater dry properly on this holder. That way you can enjoy it for a long time!

6 tips to recognize the best quality matcha tea
- Taste : real Matcha tastes sweet and fruity and has a grassy taste. Fake Matcha tastes very dry and very bitter. Attention: do not use boiling water, but hot water of approx. 80 °C, otherwise your good matcha may also taste bitter.
- A bright green color .
- Finely ground making it silky smooth to the touch; Kotobuki is ground ultra-fine (40g per hour) with handmade granite mills.
- Originating from Japan : The Japanese processing process is unique. It is therefore extremely important that the powder comes from Japan. If it comes from China, Korea or elsewhere, we no longer speak of matcha, but of green tea powder and it does not meet the European requirements.
- Organic quality mark: when you drink Matcha it is a must that the tea is organic; after all, you drink the whole leaf.
- Carefully packed in a black-violet glass jar to preserve the top quality for a long time. It is best to keep the jar in the fridge after opening, because matcha powder ages very quickly.
