BioOrto: tomato sauces, tomatoes in glass and superior extra virgin olive oil from sunny Italy

BioOrto is an Italian family business founded in 2003 by Nino Passalacqua. His grandparents Giulia and Pietro left their lives in the Abruzzi mountains in the 1950s, where they roamed as nomads with their livestock. They settled in Tavoliere delle Puglie to practice agriculture on the low-lying pastures. Today, the Passalacqua family owns 500 acres In northern Puglia, at the foot of the Gargano National Park. The special Mediterranean microclimate, with mineral water filtered through the mainland, makes the soil rich and fertile.

Italian specialties such as passata, sun-dried tomatoes and organic olive oil

Meanwhile, Nino Passalacqua's children take care of the business: Giulia and her husband Mirko and Tiziano and Nino Jr. Organic vegetables typical of the region are grown, including organic tomatoes. Bio Orto produces delicious Italian tomato specialties, including tomato passata, hand peeled tomatoes and various tomato sauces that include basil or chili. The tomatoes are harvested and selected by hand. If necessary, they are dried under the Mediterranean sun and marinated in extra virgin olive oil (like the sun-dried tomatoes). Bio Orto also produces this superior quality olive oil itself.

Italian Olive oil from monocultivar olives: superior quality from Puglia

These organic olive oils from Italy are so-called monocultivar olive oils, made from a single olive variety (cultivar). The olives are picked by hand to ensure consistent quality. Such an oil has a distinct, unique flavor and is scarce, as most olive oils are made from multiple varieties of olives. Bio Orto's monocultivars are therefore of Italian excellence and are highly recommended by Flos Olei 2019 - an important guide to the world of extra virgin olive oil!

Why buy olive oil or organic tomatoes - in glass - from Bio Orto?

Bio Orto's organic tomato products are delicious as antipasti, in pasta dishes or in, for example, a typical Italian panino (sandwich) with arugula and buffalo mozzarella. The quality remains optimal because the tomatoes are packaged in glass, in a splendid package. Glass has an excellent barrier against moisture, gases and contaminants. It is 100% natural, clean and beautiful and there good for the environment and your health.

Among the monocultivar olive oils, Bio Orto has three exceptional varieties. The Coratina cultivar is characterized by a robust taste with an intense fruity tone, the Peranzana balances between bitter and spicy and the Ogliarola tastes fruity with a spicy bitterness. All varieties come in a glass bottle, which is clean, hygienic, durable and beautiful. Father Nino already understood that maximum dedication is required to make our products grow in harmony with the beautiful nature that life gave us.
